Expectations

Please read the following information carefully before applying to the Alta Peruvian Lodge. You might want to print this page out.

Documentation: In accordance with Federal law, all employees will be required to provide proof of their legal right to work in the United States.

Term of Employment: November 7 to mid-April

Employee Meals: We provide employee meals as a benefit within the following parameters. A 30-minute break is provided for each meal. It may be necessary for an employee to forfeit his or her meal break. This should be the exception rather than the rule, and must be approved by a supervisor. All employees must inform their supervisor when they are going to leave their work station for a break.

Employee Housing: Employees live in close quarters, dormitory style. Employee rooms are fairly small, with three to four people per room. With more than 60 employees at the lodge, a spirit of cooperation is necessary. There will be periodic room inspections. Fire and insurance considerations prohibit the storage of bicycles or other potentially obstructive items in rooms, hallways, or other areas of the lodge. Employees may not have electric or gas heaters or hot plates in their rooms. Pets of any kind are prohibited.

Ski Pass: We require you to deposit the price of the season pass (about $1000) with the Lodge up front. We are willing to work with you on the deposit (i.e., credit cards or payroll deductions) but you will need at least $400 up front.  The entire amount deposited with the Lodge will be returned to you upon acceptable completion of your term of employment.

Employee Parking: There is no employee parking available at the lodge unless authorized by the general manager or the chief engineer.

Appearance Standards: Since most of our employees' activities are performed before the general public and under the watchful eyes of our guests, it is essential that each employee present a fresh, professional, and well groomed appearance at all times.

Uniforms: Where required, uniforms will be supplied by the Lodge. It is the employee's responsibility to ensure the uniform is cleaned and pressed before each work day. The uniform remains the property of the Lodge, but any damage outside of normal wear and tear must be repaired by the employee. Your name tag is to be worn on the uniform at all times. No other decorations of any kind can be worn on the uniform unless approved by management. Please bring at least two pairs of khaki pants with you.

Workers' Compensation and Insurance: The Lodge carries Workers' Compensation insurance in compliance with state law. In order to protect your interest in case of an injury or illness that you believe may be work-related, it is imperative that you report such an injury or illness to your supervisor as soon as possible. If complications arise in connection with such an injury or illness while you are away from work, the matter should be reported by telephone. We have a limited amount of skiers' accident insurance available for your purchase.

Open Door Policy: Your supervisors are responsible for on-the-job well being of those who report to them. It is part of their job to see that your working conditions are pleasant, your questions are answered, and that you are informed about the Lodge. Your supervisors expect you to come to them with problems. A good working relationship between you and your supervisor is essential to the smooth functioning of your department.

Resignation/Termination: You agree to stay until Alta Peruvian's mid-April closing date unless otherwise agreed in writing by you and the General Manager. If you depart earlier than the agreed upon date the money paid to date will be forfeited. Also, you will not be entitled to your incentive pay if you depart earlier than the agreed upon date.

Alta Peruvian Lodge Seasonal Incentive Pay: Incentive pay is based upon the date in which full time employment begins.
